In the opening Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season, Walthamstow batted first and posted an under-par total of 205 for 8 thanks only to a fine 89 from opener Zakar Rafiq. 21 wides didn't help our cause. James Webb and James Maynard bowled well to capture 3 wickets apiece.

Our run-chase after tea never really clicked in to gear, and despite a late rally by Ashir Saleem (44) and Wayne Read (27) we weren't able to reach our target and lost by 42 runs.
