Dunmow v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI on Sun 14 Jul 2024 at 1.00pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 9 Wickets
Match report
Dunmow 145-9
Belhus Sunday 2nd XI 149-1 (Lewis Blake 53 Farid Khan 50)
In a highly anticipated match, Belhus took on Dunmow in a thrilling cricket encounter. Dunmow won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that seemed favorable on a batting friendly pitch.
Lucas Barnett spearheaded the bowling attack for Belhus with an impressive start, claiming two crucial wickets of well-set batters, swinging the momentum in Belhus' favour. His early breakthroughs were crucial in setting the tone for the innings. Young talents Lewis Worley, Harvey Stapleton, and William Dawson bolstered the effort, keeping the pressure on the Dunmow batting lie up and restricting the flow of runs.
Contributions from Tilly Barnett, Muhammad Yasar, and Alex Blake, each picking up a wicket, further dented Dunmow's progress. However, the standout performance came from young Neel Singh, who delivered a spectacular spell, taking three quick wickets for just 15 runs. His exceptional bowling performance was instrumental in closing Dunmow's innings at 145 runs in 30 overs.
Chasing 146 for victory, Belhus got off to a flying start with openers Lewis Blake and Farid Khan. Both players showcased remarkable skill and composure, scoring unbeaten half-centuries. Lewis Blake's quick 53* and Farid Khan's explosive 50* laid a solid foundation for the chase. Cameos from Aftab Mohamed (16*) and Alex Blake (8*) ensured a smooth and swift finish, with Belhus sealing the victory in just 17 overs.
It was a splendid display of cricket, marked by stellar individual performances and strong teamwork.
Congratulations to Belhus for their well-deserved victory and a thank you to Dunmow for a game played in excellent spirit.
Thank you to Julie for scoring.
