Match report On a warm and sunny Wednesday evening in June, the Belhus Hurricanes played away against the Benfleet Raiders. The Raiders won the toss and elected to bowl first. (Figures below i.e. runs and bowling figures are populated for Belhus Hurricanes only as the match was scored by the Raiders and scoresheet information was sent for Belhus Hurricanes only.)

George Hill opened the batting and top-scored with 10 runs off his 15 balls - in fact all batting pairs did very well and the Hurricanes put on an impressive first innings total of 303 (200 + [118-15]). Boundaries were struck by George Hill, Sophie Hill, Leonardo Picconi, Ethan Lucey and Abhinav Dharmani.

The Raiders also batted well, but lost regular wickets because of accurate bowling and fielding by the Hurricanes. There was a wicket apiece for Oscar Cowdrey-Martinez, George Hill, Ava Thompson, Ethan Lucey and Abhinav Dharmani. In the end the Raiders managed to get their score up to 266 (200 + [87-21]).

So the Hurricanes ran out winners by 37 runs, giving them their first league win of the season! A special word for the Hurricanes captain on the day, Sophie Hill, who showed great leadership and led the team brilliantly. Also, a word for the Benfleet Raiders team and management who were very friendly and hospitable hosts - we look forward to hosting the Raiders at North Stifford later in the season.
