Batting first in this fifteenth Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season, South Woodford owed their decent total of 290 for 9 only to Janaid Anwar for his well-crafted century (117*) after his side had lost early wickets.

In our reply after tea, we too had a precarious start after which it was always going to be a tall order to chase down the runs. Skipper Wayne Read (74) and Zoran Suneel (57) brought a degree of respectability to our effort as we fell short of the target by 60 runs, but collected 8 League points in the process.
