Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 17 Runs
Match report
Brentwood 1st XI 232-7 (A West 77 T Ballington 69)
Belhus 1st XI 215-7 (J Joyce 67)
After defeating Fives and Heronians in the First Round of the Dukes Essex League Cup, we were drawn away to Brentwood in the Second Round.
Batting first, Brentwood posted a competitive 232 for 7 from their allotted 45 overs thanks only to Aaron West (77) and Tom Ballington (69) while skipper Max Osborne claimed 2 wickets and a run out.
In our reply, we were sitting comfortably on 139 for 2 after a third-wicket partnership of 89 between Joe Joyce (67) and Matt Doran (25), but after they fell, although Jack Plom struck 25 and Ryan Wells 27 not out, we couldn't quite gather sufficient momentum and came up short of the target by just 17 runs.
