In this eighth Essex League match of the season, our 3rd XI posted a very competitive total of 261 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs. Simon Walker was our lead run-scorer with 59, supported by Michael Cansdale (48*) and Rob Marlow (43*).

In their reply after tea, Hornchurch were behind the run-rate having lost early wickets, but the mid-lower order of Ed Warren (71), and Alex Sullivan (43) brought them back into the match and it was left to Sam Childs (43*) to steer his side to the required target to win by 1 wicket with just a couple of balls remaining, despite Billy Baker returning a career-best 6 for 62. An exciting close game that sees our 3rd XI sitting in 5th place in their Division.
