Hadleigh batted first in this Hamro Foundation Essex League match at North Stifford and were soon in trouble at 21-3. But then a 105-runs fourth wicket partnership between Adam Soilleux and Oliver Smith, with useful contributions down the order, saw them take the total to 240-7 after 64 overs. Ray Toole was our lead wicket-taker returning his second '5for' of the season with a fine spell of 5 for 53 from 17 overs.

In our run-chase after tea, we lost wickets at regular intervals and despite determined efforts from Danny Joyce (43) and Billy Winter (36), we capitulated to 163 all out for Hadleigh to win comfortably by 77 runs.

In order to remain in the Premier Division next season, our 1st XI are looking for some sterling performances in the 4 limited-over matches remaining.
