Match report In a very exciting U9 inter club match at North Stifford on a very cold, windy Sunday afternoon the Spitfires beat the Eagles by just 4 runs.

The Eagles batted first and compiled a steady 92 for the loss of just 1 wicket. As each wicket means a loss of 3 runs, the Eagles total was 89. Jax Grant top-scored with 5 and there was good support from Charlie Smith and Harrison Ward who both made 3. The pick of the Spitfires bowling was Alfie Bowden who conceded just 4 runs from his 3 overs, and Kayhan Suneel who went for just 5 runs from his 2 overs.

In reply, the Spitfires made a good start as Alfie Bowden top-scored with 16 including 3 fours. Kayhan Suneel made 8 , Joseph Trotter and Gethyn Matthew both added 5 apiece and there were scores of 4 from Leo Picconi and Milly Walker. But the Eagles made a spirited effort to defend their total with wickets for Charlie Whitlock (1 for 10) and Ava Thompson (1 for 20). Charlie added two run outs to his tally as well. With the Spitfires losing 5 wickets they had to take 15 runs off their total of 108 reducing them to 93 for 5, meaning they squeaked home by 4 runs.
