Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 68 Runs

Match report Belhus suffered a comprehensive defeat in their first match of the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season. The visitors won the toss and despite losing opener Hogg for a duck to the lively Tyler Robertson who bowled well to take 2-16, Dow and Elliott both made fine half centuries. Patel made 37 and O'Connor 35 not out for Billericay who batted well make 221-7 in their 30 overs. Belhus hung in with two wickets for Alex Blake and one each for Izzy Overy, Gus Philpot and Callum Constantine. Skipper Waters bowled a tidy 3 overs of spin for just 13 runs and probably warranted a longer spell. Belhus did look a little rusty after the long absence from cricket, sending down 10 no balls and 7 wides. The full toss tally was in excess of 40 which is something to be worked on.

In reply, Alex Blake made a fine 53 before he retired. Belhus slipped to 89-5 but Henry Overy (33*) and Tyler Robertson (17*) showed some spirit in adding an unbeaten partnership of 64 to take Belhus through to their allotted 30 overs. Tom Lill was the most prolific visiting bowler with 2 for 14. A deserved win for Billericay who look a decent side.
