Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 19 Runs

Match report Belhus found the going tough as they met a strong Hadleigh & Thundersley side on Thursday evening at North Stifford. The visitors batted first and started strongly as openers and district duo Tommy Byrne (35 ret n/o) and Ruben Vapiwala (28) got them flying. Seth Coelho (1-23) picked up Ruben to a good catch in the deep by Gus Philpot. Henry Overy made a good run out to remove Huggins and Charlotte Waters (1-27) had Willsmore caught by skipper Teddy Waters for a sprightly 17. Pick of the Belhus attack was Callum Constantine, with a new, aggressive run up and follow through as he bowled with energy and purpose taking 2 for 13, bowling the dangerous Maddox for 17 and having Rogers caught by Charlotte Waters for a duck. Well bowled Callum. Kian Vapiwala made an unbeaten 20 as H & T posted a strong 146-5.

Belhus started swiftly with 21 in 3 overs but unfortunately lost openers Alex Blake and Rob Healy cheaply in the process. Teddy Waters (15) and Gus Philpot (36 ret n/o) added 53 together, but Belhus fell behind the run rate against an accurate visiting attack. Byrne (1-7) and Vapiwala (1-8) being the most frugal. Henry Overy made a defiant 13 not out and Belhus were grateful for 51 extras to boost their total to a flattering 127-3 as they fell to a 19-run defeat.
