Belhus Cricket Club Won By 71 Runs

Match report Belhus returned to competitive action as they met Orsett and Thurrock in the league semi final play off at North Stifford. Belhus were put in and gladly tucked in as Lewis Blake (18) and Henry Overy (28 retired) got the home side off to a fine start. Rob Healy (26 retired) and Tyler Robertson (25 retired) kept up the momentum and Charlotte Waters (19 not out) finished things off nicely as Belhus posted a daunting 169-2 from their 20 overs. There were wickets for Garrett and Flood for the visitors.

Any hope of chasing the huge Belhus total was almost immediately extinguished as Robertson (2 maidens) and Kyle Hewson (1-7) strangled the Orsett and Thurrock initial reply. Solanki did make 21 and Greene added some impetus with 26 not out to lift the morale of the visitors but Belhus were ruthless as Lucas Barnett, Sammy Fairweather, Oliver Plunkett and Lewis Blake all took wickets supported by fine work in the field as Plunkett (2), Blake, Millard and Overy all snagged good catches. Owen added 17 not out as the Knights made 98-5 from their 20 overs but it was Belhus who triumphed by a commanding 71 runs and will progress to the final at Garons Park on Sunday Sept 1st where they will meet Hadleigh and Thundersley.
