Match report A lovely warm sun welcomed Loughton to Belhus on Saturday.

Belhus batted first on a heavily-grassed, dry pitch and were soon in trouble at 29 for 2. Shazad (3 for 66 ) bowled a good, testing opening spell and recovered partially due to good knocks from Lewis, the skipper, with 54, Read (20), 21 from George Maidment and a heartening 29 not out from Sam Hall. Well done Sam. Sam George escaping from his O level exams played nicely for 18 .

Belhus never quite escaped the Loughton attack and were really 20 runs short, although they didn't quite get the rub of the green on decisions. Saeed bowled well to take 4 for 30.

In reply after a sumptuous tea from Mrs Lewis, certain players couldn't run after the banquet. Loughton struggled against Darrell (3 for 73) and in particular Sam George who bowled very well but with no luck. At 119 for 4 with 13 overs left, the game was very much in the balance but 4 missed chances allowed Shetty (51) and in particular Boperai (33 not out) to win the game for Loughton.

A game that literally slipped through Belhus's fingers.
