NORWICH* v Belhus Cricket Club Senior Tour on Mon 29 Jul 2019 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost By 31 Runs
Match report
Norwich 311
Belhus Tour XI 280-9
Belhus began their latest Norfolk tour at the idyllic Ingham ground on what was a glorious sunny afternoon. Our hosts clearly meant business as they elected to bat and made hay in the sun. Bowmen made a fine century and there were brisk contributions from I Kemp (78), B Kemp (26) and L Grister (26). Belhus toiled hard and there were rewards fro Paul Whitlock (2-56) Ryan Wells (2-45) and Roy Heffernan (1-34) but pick of the tourist attack was Billy Winter who took a fine 5 for 34 as Norwich set a daunting chase of 311 all out.
Mike Cansdale set off aggressively for Belhus thumping 45 with 5 fours and a six but wickets fell steadily until Ryan Wells (batting at number 9) joined no 7 Sam Hall. The pair then launched an astonishing counter attack. Hall made a fine 66 with 8 4's and 2 6's but it was Wells who attacked the record books as he smote 93 including 7 4's and an amazing 9's 6's. The torrent of boundaries almost gave Belhus a sniff of an astonishing victory but both batsman fell nobly on their swords in the run pursuit. Belhus making a great attempt at the daunting chase as they totalled 280-9 falling 31 runs short. Manikandan was the pick of the home attack with 3 for 17 with B Kemp and J Lovick picking up a couple of wickets each, An excellent match to start the tour.
