Wickford CC won the toss and elected to field first, but Belhus produced a dominant batting display to post an imposing 333 for 5 from their 40 overs. In reply, Wickford battled hard but finished on 141 for 5, giving Belhus a comprehensive 192-run victory.

Belhus made a positive start despite losing an early wicket at 28. The innings was built around a magnificent century from Mahfooz Mazumder, who blasted 116 from just 90 balls, striking 19 fours and 3 sixes. His innings provided the foundation for an excellent total. He received strong support throughout the innings. Richard Waters contributed 35, while wicketkeeper Liam Waters played an excellent knock of 51. The closing overs saw an explosive finish from Aariyan Kansagra, who remained unbeaten on 43 from 27 balls, and George Church, whose unbeaten 48 from only 27 deliveries ensured Belhus finished with an outstanding 333/5.

For Wickford, J. Allen and H. Hussain claimed two wickets each, but they were unable to slow Belhus’ momentum as the home side accelerated throughout the innings.

Facing a daunting target, Wickford found runs difficult to come by against a disciplined Belhus bowling attack. Paul Gelder was outstanding with the new ball, returning figures of 8 overs, 4 maidens, 12 runs, while Ethan Hammes also bowled brilliantly, conceding just 10 runs from his 7 overs.

The wickets were shared around, with George Church leading the way with 3 for 14, Aariyan Kansagra taking 1 for 10, and Harvey Stapleton adding another wicket. Captain Imran Mohammed also kept things exceptionally tight, bowling 3 overs, including a maiden, for just 5 runs, helping maintain constant pressure.

Credit must go to Wickford, who showed resilience and determination despite the challenging chase. S. Baig top-scored with an aggressive 28, while the remaining batters dug in to ensure they completed their 40 overs, finishing on 141 for 5.

Overall, it was an excellent all-round team performance from Belhus. Superb batting effort, highlighted by Mazumder’s brilliant century, was backed up by disciplined bowling and outstanding fielding to secure a convincing 192-run victory. The win reflected Belhus’ quality in all three departments and continued their excellent form.
