Match report BATTING

Orsett won the toss and chose to bowl first. Our openers, Owen and Safaan, gave us a steady start. They were smart with their running, picking up every single opportunity – even sneaking runs off overthrows!

Next came Finley and Maya, who kept the runs ticking with some solid batting and made sure we didn’t lose any wickets. Then Aariz and Akhil came in and kept the momentum going with some brilliant running between the wickets – their communication was top notch.

Oscar and Tharak followed, bringing some exciting boundaries and clever stroke play. Harman batted next and added even more runs with a few cracking boundaries of his own. In the end, Hurricanes finished with a strong total of 354 – great effort by everyone!

BOWLING

Our bowling keeps getting better every game! Owen and Finley opened with tight, accurate bowling and even grabbed a wicket to get us off to a great start. Tharak and Aariz followed with more tight overs and a couple of key wickets that slowed the opposition down.

Maya and Harman continued the pressure, with Harman nearly getting a hat-trick and finishing with 3 wickets – fantastic bowling! Safaan and Oscar also bowled brilliantly, each taking a wicket. Akhil came in at the end to keep things under control and didn’t let Orsett get close to our target.

FIELDING

Fielding was a real highlight today – the saying “catches win matches” was spot on! Oscar took a great catch, and Tharak’s diving forward catch was one to remember. Harman was safe as ever under the high balls and made a few tricky catches look easy. Everyone backed each other up, stopped runs, and the team pulled off some amazing run outs too.

We’re super proud of how all the kids played today – they gave it their all and worked brilliantly as a team. Thanks to Irma for helping with collecting the match fee and to all the parents for the constant support – every cheer made a difference.

There’s always room to grow (like cutting down on extras or avoiding overthrows), but for their age, this group is doing brilliantly. Nick and I are both incredibly proud coaches of this talented bunch.
