Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 5 Wickets

Match report SUMMARY

The toss was won by H&T CC, who chose to bowl first. Our innings began with openers Akhil and Safaan, who displayed excellent communication and running between the wickets. Despite it being their first match, they showed impressive composure and commitment, helping us get off to a steady start while losing just one wicket.

Our second batting pair, Owen and Lois, continued the momentum with smart shot selection and confident running, keeping the scoreboard ticking and maintaining stability. It’s worth noting that all four of these players were playing their first match, and they demonstrated great determination and a clear understanding of the game.

Next up, Oscar and Tharak brought in their prior experience to good use, showing notable improvement in running between the wickets and finding scoring opportunities. Their boundary shots were especially enjoyable to watch, with some hits coming close to clearing the ropes.

The following pair, Harman and Molly, kept up the pace with strong batting performances. Molly, our left-hander, played with great intent, and both batters found the boundary multiple times, adding valuable runs to the total.

Aariz closed the innings on a high with some well-timed strokes, using his experience to ensure we made the most of the final overs.

Overall, it was a solid batting display from all players, and we ended our innings with a net score of 282.

BOWLING & FIELDING:

Our bowling effort showed discipline, particularly considering that it was the first competitive game for many of our players. Owen made an early breakthrough in the very first over, while Lois bowled a tight over with multiple dot balls.

Safaan and Akhil kept things tight and didn’t allow easy runs, showing good line and control. Oscar and Tharak impressed with some well-directed deliveries, including in-swingers, and picked up key wickets. Aariz, Harman, and Molly followed suit with focused and accurate bowling. Molly’s inswing deliveries were particularly challenging for the batters, and her line and pace created real difficulty for the opposition.

Fielding was another standout aspect of our game. The team worked hard to back up the bowlers, preventing easy singles and maintaining pressure. Akhil and Oscar’s diving stops saved crucial runs and stood out as highlights of our fielding effort. It was also great to see players consistently supporting throws at the stumps, showing good awareness and teamwork.

H&T CC ultimately won the game with a net score of 303, but our players can be proud of their performance. There are a few areas for improvement, particularly in reducing extras while bowling, but this being our first match, there are plenty of positives to take forward.

A big thank you to all the parents who stayed and supported the team until the end. The energy and encouragement meant a lot.

We look forward to our next game and are confident that we’ll come back stronger.
