Belhus 4s got their season underway with a win in a good natured friendly at Ockendon Rec.

Skipper Jim Robertson invited visitors Stanford le Hope to bat and they made a competitive 161 - 7 from their 40 overs on a testing pitch. Selvaraj Shanmuganand top-
scored for the visitors with 59 not out and Freddie Martin was pick of the bowlers for Belhus with 3 wickets. Good support came from Evie Baldwin, Harvey Stapleton, Aryan Patel, Dexter Hill and Sanjay Yagnik who all took a wicket each.

In reply, Belhus were well placed at 70-1 but lost Brian Edwards for 24 and Aryan Patel (36) in quick succession. This prompted a collapse and Belhus slumped to 87-8 when Adam Martin joined skipper Jim Robertson and they combined to carve a 75-run 9th wicket partnership to take Belhus to victory by 2 wickets. Martin made 41 not out and Robertson 33 not out. Sandamane (3-11) and Street (3-9) were the main Stanford threats in a close and very enjoyable friendly match.
