South Loughton v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI on Sun 16 Aug 2009 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 11 Runs
Match report
Batting first on very unpredictable track, Belhus started off slowly and found runs hard to come by. However, a splendid 117 from 15 years old Billy Winter and 89 from Bradley Walker allowed Belhus to put on 106 runs in the last 10 overs! Belhus finished their innings on 245 for 5. South Loughton started briskly and with Stokes scoring 87 and Henman 100 not out, rattled up a 207 opening partnership!
This could have been the cue for panic, but wily skipper Brian Edwards turned to young Brad Walker who responded with 3 quick wickets pegging South Loughton back. Aided by some good fielding, Belhus restricted the home side to only 3 runs in the last over from which they required 14 to win. Walker finished with 3 for 20 off 6 overs giving Belhus a win by 11 runs!
