Belhus knew having lost the toss and being asked to bowl,that capturing the wicket of big hitting South African Darren Van Dyk was paramount if they were not going to chase a massive target. Ricki Ellis made early inroads into the Wickford top order taking 3 for 27,then Danny norris claimed the prize scalp of Van Dyk for 45 and the run rate slowed considerably. A late cameo from Smith allowed Wickford to reach 184 in their 40 overs. Norris with 2 for 29 and Owen Jefferies 2 for 43 the other main wicket takers.

A superb 138 opening partnership between the Marns brothers, Nick with 75 and Ben 89 not out, set the platform for a great 9 wicket win with 9 overs to spare.
