Epping v Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 15 Aug 2009 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 136 Runs
Match report
Another away day disaster in the depths of Epping with a very much changed side. When we went out to the middle the pitch it looked as if it would give the bowlers something. So when I won the toss for a change, I chose to bowl. At first I did'nt notice that they had quite a few change to their side as well. But soon after we started and the ball was going to most parts of the ground I soon realised I might have made the wrong decision in putting them into bat.
When it was our turn to bat, we got off to a good start. Jim Robertson and Richard Dopson were making a good opening partnership of 71 before Dopson was dismissed on 35. Then it all went wrong - losing the next 4 wickets for 12 runs until Tony Ellis come to the crease and made 13 and showed some of the senior players how to bat. 21 from Jim Robertson, 13 Tony Ellis and 18 from myself were the only people to get into double figures. The moral of this story is don't listen to Take That when you are traveling away!
Never mind . . . better luck this week.
