Belhus 2nd XI gained an historic win over Ongar 2nd XI at the weekend. Tom Thompson (113 not out) and Gavin Jefferies (84 not out) produced the highest 10-wickets victory in the club's history on yet another batsman's paradise at North Stifford.

The chase came after some athletic efforts in the field and tight bowling from the Belhus attack. Rob Long and Bradley Sheridan shared the first 14 overs with figures of 0 for 12 and 2 for 24 respectively. Young bowlers Alfie Rowley (1 for 14 off 4 overs) and Owen Jefferies (2 for 56 off 15 overs) ensured that Ongar never managed to gather the pace to see them through to a more daunting total.

However, the pick of the bowlers for the afternoon was Chris Baker who recorded the club's third senior, all-bowled hat-trick since Jim Robertson (1997) and Mandrake Kahn (1985) with final figures of 4 for 63 off 13 consecutive overs.
