Match report South Woodford won the toss and elected to bat in this Shepherd Neame Essex League Cup match. Richard Brown batted with great control for South Woodford in his 66. Scott Bayford and Richard Waters, bowled with excellent control and took the first 6 wickets between them. At one stage South Woodford were 145 for 6 off 25 overs. However, Nick Browne was dropped at deep square leg before he had really got going and then went on to make 118 off 71 balls. Carl Greenidge gave him good support and the last 20 overs went for nearly 200 runs. We didn't bowl or field well in this period, but that doesn't take anything away from what was a great knock by Browne.

At tea, Belhus had decided not to go for a ridiculous run-chase and end up throwing their wickets away. So with this in mind, the top five batsmen all spent valuable time at the crease. We finished on 169 for the loss of 3 wickets with Mat Lewis ending up with 43 not out and U15 Billy Winter on 15 not out, facing up to an attack that included ex county pro Carl Greenidge and one or two other quality bowlers.
