After Shenfield won the toss and elected to bat first in this ninth match of the Hamro Foundation Essex League season, they proceeded to post a modest 222 for 6 declared as David Hickey (65*) and Usman Ul-Haq (65) were joint top-scorers. Jack Plom and Joe Joyce were the pick of the Belhus bowlers with 3 wickets apiece.

In our run-chase after tea, we moved to 80 for 2 before skipper Max Osborne (112*) and Matt Doran (75*) combined together for a commanding, unbroken 145-runs 3rd wicket partnership to steer us home to a comfortable 8-wicket victory in 34.5 overs.

And at the half-way stage of the 2023 season, our 1st XI moved into 2nd place in Division One in the League, just twelve points behind the leaders Epping.
