We batted first in this third match of the Hamro Foundation Essex League season but were soon in trouble at 26 for 3. Thankfully our middle-order pulled things around to take our total to 225 for 6 with Jack Plom scoring his first half-century (54*) for the Club.

After tea, skipper Max Osborne took an early wicket, as is his wont, but GPR pushed their score to 170 for 4 and the match was evenly-balanced before our bowlers gained the initiative. Spinner Dalunjala Mendis sent down 10 miserly overs for just 19 runs and Gus Philpot bowled superbly to capture his maiden Club '5for' with 5 for 37 as we proceeded to take the last 6 wickets for just 30 runs to win by 25 runs - impressive. A good, close game that earned our 1st XI 20 League points.
