In the ninth match of the League season, our 5th XI racked up an impressive 243 all out thanks largely to fine half-centuries by Tom Thompson and Brian Edwards.

In their run-chase after tea, Horndon were marching along comfortably when perched on 162 for 5. But then we produced one of the best bowling performances of the season as we took the last 5 wickets for 0 runs in just 7 balls. And it was young Ben Gladman who did the damage by capturing 4 wickets in 1 special over to finish with a career-best 6 for 34 to mark his maiden '5for' for the club. Well done Ben - a game to remember for you and the team.

Under the experienced eye of skipper Barry Ruck, our 5th XI are now sitting in second place in their Hamro Foundation Essex League Division with 141 points - hot on the heels of leaders Ilford with 171 points.
