Our 2nd XI batted first in this fourteenth Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season and posted a respectable total of 242 for 6 from their 50 overs thanks largely to a superb century by Henry Overy, his second of 2022 and becoming the first player to pass 1,000 runs for the season.

In their reply after tea, Fives batted well with Terry Ballard stroking 65, but we quickly removed their lower order batsmen to put victory in our sights but James McKay and Dean Humphrey thwarted our efforts and held out gamely to secure an honourable Draw.

Although sitting in 5th place in their HFEL Division, our 2nd XI are hoping for some good performances in the remaining 4 matches if skipper Martin Guilbert's young side are to gain promotion.
