Wanstead batted first in this tenth match of the Essex League season and quickly lost opener Zoraiz Saeed to the second ball of the match when he was clean-bowled by Ray Toole. However, our bowlers were unable to maintain their early strike as Wanstead batted commandingly with Kishen Velani stroking a fine century to see his side through to 307 for 5 declared.

In our response, we got off to an unfortunate start as Danny Joyce was run-out on the first ball of our innings. Thereafter, our batters never really threatened to reach the required target as spinner Joe Ellis-Grewal took 6 for 52 to steer his side home to a comfortable 141-runs victory.

And in the Hamro Foundation Essex League Premier Division, Wanstead sit atop of the table with 197 points - some 61 points clear of second-placed Colchester & East Essex. Belhus are lingering in ninth place and are hoping for some strong performances in the remaining 8 matches of the season.
