Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v East Ham Corinthians on Sun 04 Sep 2022 at 1.00pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 4 Wickets
Match report
East Ham Corinthians 251
Belhus 255 for 6
East Ham Corinthians won the toss and elected to bat first in this 40 over Sunday friendly in glorious sunshine and posted an excellent 251, as all of their batsmen chipped in with runs, S Singh 52, A Mishra 49 and K Mhatra 37 the main contributors. Aftab Mohammed was the pick of our bowlers with 3 for 41 from his 8 overs and Tyler Robertson passed 50 wickets for the season.
In reply, Belhus lost Michael Cansdale early, but Matthew Friend and Chris Didd put on 62 before Friend fell for a nice 26. Teddy Water went for 17 bringing Alex Blake to the crease and he and Didd both continued their fine recent form. Didd fell for a very good 78, with 9 fours and 1 six and with the score at 150, there was still plenty to do for the young Belhus side, but it was Blake who stole the show with his wonderful 90 from just 54 balls, that included 11 fours and 3 sixes. He was assisted by Henry Overy, also in fine form, who finished 29* that saw us comfortably home, as we chased down the big total in just 33.1 overs for a very very good win.
But it was young Alex Blake's day and one he will saviour, as his 90 was his highest score and he also picked up 2 wickets earlier in the day to go along with it.
