Belhus entertained Nazeing Common on Easter Sunday at the Villllage Green in this excellent time game.

Batting first, Belhus posted a fine 220 for 4 dec in 41 overs, with much thanks to a fine 78 from Michael Cansdale, which included 10 fours. Michael had good support from Robert Healy opening with 30 and James Maynard batting at 4 with a nice 33, Then Henry Overy came in and batted lovely for 47 not out to boost the innings total.

In reply, Nazeing were in trouble at 15 for 4, as Baiju Mohamed ripped out 3 wickets for no runs, Paul Whitlock picking up the other one. Bowling changes were made and Baiju made way for his daughter Afra Rose Mohamed to enter the attack and Afra bowled a nice spell of 5 overs for 21 in tandem with the experienced Mohamed Yasar. Nazeing rebuilt, but James Webb removed Elby for 19, but Nazeing captain Pete Barker was building his innings and looking very solid. Henry Overy removed Ary Shulka for 8 in a stand of 40.

Enter James Maynard who bowled Barker for 57 with a lovely ball, bearing in mind that Barker had not looked in any trouble at all for his good 57. So with 2 overs left and 2 wickets to win, captain Read brought himself on and had Chris Janes stumped, by Robert Healy, with a good piece of work, in a wicket maiden. So last over and one wicket required, Afra returned to the attack. She steamed in and was so close to taking the last wicket to win the match, but another maiden and an excellent game was over.
