Belhus Cricket Club Under 11 v Brentwood on Sun 27 Jun 2021 at 09:30
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 56 Runs
Match report
Brentwood (h) Sunday June 27th
On what we thought may be a drizzly morning, we gathered the squad at North Stifford for what was only our second home game of the season so far.
Today’s opponents were our friends along the 128 in Brentwood.
Due to the absence of regular skipper Oliver, George led the side and headed out to the middle for his first toss.
The toss was won by Brentwood and they chose to bowl.
The first pairing for us were Matthew and Harvey and they put on 8 runs for the loss of one wicket.
Charles (playing in his first ever game) and Ronnie came to the crease soon after and both batted well, making sure they defended their wicket as much as possible.
The third paring were Will and Charlie and they managed to have a partnership of 11 runs with the loss of one wicket.
The fourth Belhus partnership was between Vansh and Aryan and there were some excellent shots on display.
The managed to add 36 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, this included an individual score of 22 from Vansh which is the teams highest of the season so far.
The final pairing for the hosts were skipper George and late replacement Lewys.
Both boys had to dig in against some excellent bowling from the visitors as did the majority of the team to be honest.
At the end of the innings we finished on 66 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, giving us a net score of 31.
With a score of 31 to defend, Matthew and Charlie opened the bowling, both boys bowled tight lines and Charlie managed to pick to the wicket of one of the dangerous Brentwood openers.
The second pair to bowl for Belhus were Charles and Will. Wickets were taken in both lads opening overs, that includes Charles taking a wicket with his second ball in hardball cricket.
The wicket during Will’s over was a run out. The non striker headed for a quick single but the batsman had stayed in his crease.
Next up was George and Harvey and during their 4 overs we only conceded 16 runs for the loss of two wickets. Both lads bowled superbly well and deserved their wickets.
The fourth bowling paring for Belhus was Ronnie and Aryan, again both keeping their lines tight. Ronnie conceded just 13 runs from his two overs and due to his wicket to wicket bowling, was the only Belhus bowler on the day not to give away any extras.
Aryan managed to pick up a wicket and finished with the best bowling figures of the day (2 overs, 1 wicket for the loss of just 4 runs)
This weeks death bowlers were Vansh and Lewys and they both face some excellent batting to be fair. This did not deter Vansh and Lewys though as both had a wicket fall during their overs.
Lewys wicket was a straight ball that the batsman missed and sent the bails flying and the wicket during Vansh bowling was another run out.
This time Aryan produced a wonderful piece of fielding to get the ball into skipper George to take the bails off.
George had taken over as keeper for the second half of the innings, with Lewys covering the first half, doing so for the first time.
Brentwood ended their chase with 127 runs, for the loss of 8 wickets, giving them a net score of 87. This meant a 56 run victory for the visitors.
Both sides played some excellent cricket at times and the whole game was played in the correct spirit of how games should be.
Well done to all
Kind Regards
