Wickford v Belhus Cricket Club Under 11 on Sun 11 Jul 2021 at 09:30
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 19 Runs
Match report
Wickford (a) Sunday 11th July
Quindi, la mattina in cui il football doveva "tornare a casa", i Belhus Under 11 si sono recati a Wickford per la decima partita della stagione…………
Sorry, I must’ve left the Italian language on my phone after last night :)
Let’s try that again in English……
So on the day that football due to “come home”, Belhus U11s travelled to Wickford for our 10th game of the season.
Belhus won the toss and chose to bowl.
Opening the bowling for us were Ronnie and Harvey. All four of the lads overs were tight only conceding four runs.
We also picked one wicket during this spell which was a run out from the bowling of Harvey. Quick thinking from Lewys in the field got the ball back to George at the stumps who took off the bails.
Matthew and Oli followed up with the next four overs and conceded 27 runs between them.
During this spell Oli also took two wickets which included our first “caught and bowled” of the season.
The middle overs were bowled by Charlie and John and they did superbly well.
Both lads finished with exactly the same figures 2 overs, 0 maidens, 1 wicket for 6 runs.
Of their 24 balls between them, 16 were dots, which at this level of cricket is just excellent.
John’s wicket was his first in hard ball cricket too and came from an excellent catch from Vansh at Mid On.
Lewys and Aryan bowled the 4th spell for Belhus and continued the tight lines. Neither of them picked up a wicket but they only allowed 13 runs to be added to the score.
The death bowlers this week were George and Vansh. These overs scored a Net 0. This was because a total of 6 runs were scored, but due to Vansh getting 2 wickets for just the loss of 2 runs theses cancelled each other out.
This resulting in Wickford finishing on a net score of 51.
Chasing 52 to win, Matthew and Ronnie headed out to the middle and were joined by someone else making their debut out in the middle.
Scott (Oli’s dad) was umpiring his first innings at square leg and we thank him for that.
Matthew and Ronnie defended as many balls as they would with Ronnie also picking up two singles.
Harvey and Charlie were next into bat and both picked up run off the bat. Due to come excellent quick running, their total runs came from being quick between the wickets.
John and George came together as the visitors third partnership and they carried on the quick running shown to them by our previous batsmen. George picked up 9 runs and John 4.
Vansh and Aryan came to the crease soon after and really took the game to the home sides bowlers.
Between their 24 balls, there was 1 wicket, 2 wides, 2 dots and 19 balls in which the boys scored runs off the bat.
Vansh got two boundaries in his 15 and Aryan picked up one boundary in his innings of 19, which was his highest of the season so far.
Lewys and Oli were the final paring for Belhus on Sunday after batting and more importantly calling well together in the nets on Friday night.
Oli as usual bludgeoned his way to 16 with 3 boundaries and 4 singles, where as from the balls Lewys received he was happy to know them into the field, picking up a few singles, running some byes and during the last over taking some dot balls to get us over the line.
After being just Net 3 after 10 overs, we finished on Net 64 giving us a 13 run win. This came from us getting 103 runs but having lost 13 wickets, which is a huge number to lose and something we need to work on in training on Friday.
That was however our 7th win from 10 games played and have a busy week with games coming on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Kind Regards
