Stanford-le-Hope v Belhus Cricket Club Under 11 on Sun 13 Jun 2021 at 09:30
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 30 Runs
Match report
Stanford (A) Sunday 13th June
It was a baking hot summers day as the young Belhus team and their parents in tow made the short trip down the A13 to Stanford-Le-Hope.
The home side won the toss and decided to bat, which was fine with skipper Oliver who would’ve liked to bowled first anyways.
Belhus had a couple of debutants in their line up but these were backed by a rather experienced line-up.
Lewys and Matthew opened the bowling and within those four overs, including a run out they took five wickets.
This included Matthew getting his first wicket for Belhus and Lewys getting his best ever figures of 3 wickets for 3 runs.
Ronnie and Olly took up the mantel of the next few overs and apart from a couples of extras each they kept the home team scoring to a minimum, with Oliver himself getting one wicket.
John and Charlie continued their excellent bowing display from the previous game and made sure their line and length was superb. Charlie got another wicket in the match which is now his second in two games since playing hardball cricket.
The next four overs were magical. They were bowled by Reuben and George. A total of 15 runs were scored in these 4 overs. In fact they all came within one over as Reubens first over (the 13th of the day) was a maiden over and both of George’s were maidens too. This giving George the figures of 2 overs 2 maidens, no wickets for no runs. This was superb bowling from both lads.
The final four overs for Belhus were bowled by Aryan and Vansh. They found it tough as the batsmen they faced have been playing hardball cricket for many years and batted superbly.
Both both lads stuck at it, bowled as best as they could and managed to get 3 wickets between them.
Stanford ended their innings with 141 runs scored for the loss of 10 wickets. This game them a net score of 111 for Belhus to chase.
Lewys and Matthew once again opened the batting as they had done with the bowling as Belhus set about chasing their target.
Both batted well and defended their wicket as much as possible.
Ronnie and Vansh were in next and they both helped to chase the target. Vansh added 14 to the total and Ronnie dug in to ensure we didn’t lose another wicket.
John and Charlie were our third paring and I have to say I really enjoy watching these two bat together.
They are both quick between the wicket, it’s always a kind of hare em scare em situation with their calling, but their always clear, loud and positive with their calls which shows their listening to what we have told them in training too.
Aryan and George took over the chase and between them added 14 to our score. They were both excellent with their timing of the ball and it really paid off.
Our final paring was Reuben and captain Oliver. These boys bat superbly well together and really give it a huge go at trying to reach our target.
Between the 24 balls between them they faced, scored runs off the bat from 11 of them and ran byes off another 3 balls.
Their partnership of 29 from 24 balls included a swashbuckling 18 from Oliver but unfortunately we came up a little short on the target.
We ended our innings on 98 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, giving us a net score of 81.
That meant Stanford won the game by 30 runs.
However as we told the lads after the game, the issues from the game are actually things we haven’t actually worked on in training as of yet, which were stumpings and front foot no balls.
So they should be immensely proud of themselves for that and use the pointers we give them to help their development themselves going forward.
And for those who were selected…….they wouldn’t have long to wait as we have our first home game of the season against Orsett all of 24hrs later!!!
Kind Regards
