Belhus batted first in this 2nd Round tie of the Dukes Essex League Cup at North Stifford. Thanks to a commanding opening partnership of 142 between Danny Joyce (84) and brother Joe (62), we were able to reach a respectable total of 246 for 5 after the allotted 45 overs.

In their reply, Loughton made a valiant attempt to chase down the runs and were well poised at 170 for 5 after a fine 56-runs 6th wicket partnership between Rajnish Dohal and Ismail Dar. But then 3 catches by 'keeper Danny Joyce and 3 wickets apiece from Dan Norris and Joe Joyce, saw skipper Billy Winter's team march home to a 29-runs victory in a competitive match played in a friendly spirit.

So Belhus are now through to the last eight in the League Cup and will meet Brentwood CC at North Stifford in the Quarter-Final.

The other Quarter-Final matches are:

Westcliff-on-Sea v Wanstead & Snaresbrook
Hadleigh & Thundersley v Chelmsford
Hornchurch v Chingford

All matches must be played before 25th July and the Grand Final will take place on Monday, 30th August at a venue to be announced.
