BRENTWOOD VICTORIANS* v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 30 May 2021 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 10 Wickets
Match report
Brentwood Victorians 317-1
Belhus Sunday XI 319-0
Ryan Wells overtook Paul Bennett's record as the highest individual scorer as he blazed an amazing 204 not out to take Belhus to an extraordinary 10 wicket victory at The Old County Ground, Brentwood. Fellow opener Henry Overy (75 not out) joined the party too as Belhus broke further records in chasing a highly impressive 317-1 to win by 10 wickets.
The chase was the highest successful run chase in Club history and the highest score by a Belhus side when batting second.
The game was played on a thankfully sunny, pleasant afternoon. The 40 over match started with Victorians being invited to bat and Shane Surujbally making an excellent 152 not out in which I am sure he thought would be a match winning innings. There were 50's for Nazir and Knightsbridge. It was a tough afternoon for the young Belhus attack but they stuck to their task manfully on a warm afternoon. Teddy Waters took what was to be the only wicket of the entire match and Henry Overy and Tyler Robertson bowled tidily. Set 317 to chase, skipper Wells threw caution to the wind from the off, and set a furious pace. Henry Overy provided the perfect support role running hard and playing some fine shots, while the captain bludgeoned his team to victory without loss on what was a truly record-breaking afternoon. Well played gents.
