Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 100 Runs

Match report The under 11s kickstarted their friendly season against Billericay on a wet day at North Stifford. Losing the toss, Billericay chose to bat and totalled 110-5 after 20 overs. Main contributions from the Essex boys Lawrence (22), Elliot (16) and George (13) as the boys struggled to contain them at the end. Reuben Hart, only 8 years of age, bowled outstandingly well on debut to claim 1-3 off his 2 overs. Ben Gladman, however, was the pick finishing with best figures of 2-17. A final direct hit run out from Austin Medlock in the 18th over showed good resilience from the side after 20 overs.

With lots of runs to chase, pressure got to the boys and we started poorly losing 4 wickets in the first 4 overs, good all round contributions from Sam Martin (9) Reuben Hart (8) and (11) solid runs from William Sullivan reached our total to 55 after 20 overs. However good spells by Billericay, especially Violet (3-7) Robert M (3-2) and Elliot (2-7) dented our total and we lost by 100 runs.

A tough day for the boys, but the main thing was they carried on going and hopefully learnt a lot from the experience against a very good Billericay side.
