The 3rd-ever 6th XI game still sees them without a win, but they will not come closer following this one-run defeat at Chelmer Park.

Somehow the venue avoided any rain that accounted for a number of fixtures further south in the County being called off.

The home side batted first and were restricted to 137 off their 35 overs, and with a fast outfield the Belhus bowlers and fielders performed well. A quick-fire 24 from Andrew Sheppard at No. 8 gave the Chelmsford bowlers a target to bowl to.

In response, an accurate opening spell from Lawrence and Ryan left the visitors a bit behind the asking rate but with Dan Wakeling scoring 31 including 2 huge sixes, Belhus needed 7 off the last over. Sadly they fell short of their target to lose by just 1 run..

However, an exciting match provided an enjoyable day for all.
