Belhus Cricket Club Won By 62 Runs

Match report The Belhus U13's won their seventh league game to remain unbeaten. It was not a polished performance but they got the job done. Batting first Belhus lost wickets steadily but Lewis Blake's return to the team added some calm with a fluent 25 before retiring. With Rob Healy and Henry Overy dismissed, Belhus needed some impetus after Lewis's retirement. They got it from Tyler Robertson (25 retired) and Maddox Brown (15) who both batted positively and importantly ran well between the wickets with good backing up and aggressive calling. Tyler's retirement saw a drop in run rate with Belhus scoring just 30 from their last 8 overs, as they totalled 113-8 - their lowest total of the season so far. Credit to Horndon who did bowl well with Louis Mailey the pick with 1 for 16 bowling very full and straight.

After the proverbial rocket from the management at the innings break Belhus came out with purpose with the ball and in the field. There were early wickets for Aidan Fourie and Seth Coelho with good smart catches by Blake and Overy. Overy also produced a good run out and Owen Williams was miserly bowling two maidens to pile the pressure on Horndon, Sammy Fairweather bowled well taking 1 for 5 and Lewis Blake wrapped up proceedings for 2 wickets for 1 run. Horndon did bat their overs with Charlie Nicholls carrying his bat through the innings to remain 13 not out as they totalled 51-8 as Belhus won by 62 runs. A good bowling and fielding performance by Belhus but a reminder to them to not rest on their laurels with the bat.
