WICKFORD* v Belhus Cricket Club Under 11 on Sun 19 May 2019 at 10:00
Belhus Cricket Club Won By 58 Runs
Match report
The Under 11s had a much-deserved victory against Wickford at the nice Patmore Memorial Ground on Sunday morning. Losing the toss yet again, Belhus were asked to bat first and debuts were given to both Frankie Fink and James Parker. Raam and Frankie opened up and after 4 overs we were sitting on 15 nice runs without losing any wickets. Frankie hitting a class shot off his legs down to fine leg for a single and Raam hitting 3 singles through the off side meant we were off to a good start. James Parker was then joined by Max and the good work continued as James scored (2) and Max (8) as he punished two balls for 4, hitting the ball incredibly hard. After 8 overs, we were sitting on 41 without loss. The next period was difficult as Ronnie of Wickford bowled exceptionally well to claim 4 wickets in 3 overs. However, contributions from William (5) and Stanley (5) rebuilt after a wobble and we managed to score 20 runs in 6 overs without losing another wicket. Matthew Friend then joined James Webb and put on 23 runs between them to get us up to a total of 96. Losing 6 wickets meant a NET score of 78 for us after 20 overs.
Belhus then took to the field. Frankie and Raam opened up and bowled 4 tight overs between them conceding only 1 run, the best I'd seen both of them bowl. James Parker then bowled with Max and bowled nicely outside off stump and was a little unfortunate not to take any wickets. However, Max had quick success by clean-bowling Morgan and then claiming a caught and bowled in his final over finishing with 2 wickets for 13 runs in 3 overs. William bowled with Alex Newell next and William with his left arm created problems clean-bowling Issac of Wickford. Alex Newell bowled a tidy first over only conceding 1 and then produced a lovely second over clean-bowling Issac again and also claiming the wicket of Alfie the very next ball. He was then on a hat trick and deservedly got given another over though unlucky not to get it he bowled a nice final over claiming another wicket in Wickford's Oliver, finishing with figures of 3 overs 3 wickets for 5 runs. Luke Trotter's first ball claimed another wicket as he clean-bowled Alfie again and then James Webb came on and clean-bowled Issac and Alfie again and then clean-bowled Wickford's Ollie in 3 consecutive deliveries giving him a Hat Trick, the first I had seen at youth level in my time of coaching at Belhus - well bowled James. Matthew Friend then finished his 2 overs for 6 Runs and after 20 overs, Wickford finished on a total of 50 Runs for 10 wickets giving them a NET total of 20 runs which meant victory for Belhus by 58 Runs.
A really good performance all round from everyone. Stan Walsh kept very well and arguably could say it's the best we have bowled to date and improvement each week is showing. Considering the lack of training in the last few weeks, the games so far have been very good, Well done all and I’ll see you next week at training.
