Belhus Cricket Club Won By 94 Runs

Match report Belhus kicked off their U13 season with a League Cup match hosting Basildon and Pitsea on a bright but deceptively fresh April evening. Skipper Henry Overy won the toss and elected to bat. Despite losing Brandon Millard to a good run out for 5, Belhus progressed well. Oliver Plunkett (25), Henry Overy (26) and Robert Healy (26) all retired after scoring quickly combining boundaries with good energetic running between the wickets. Tyler Robertson also batted positively making a career best 26 not out as Belhus compiled a daunting 145-1 from their 20 overs. The pick of the visiting attack were openers Malik and Eustace who both went for just 6 runs apiece from their two overs.

In response Belhus bowled and fielded with mean precision. Charlotte Waters set the tone from the off with two fine maidens. Eustace did make a bold 20 including a fine six but Lucas Barnett (1-15) made the break through and when Callum Constantine (2-8) removed Eustace with help from a fine catch by skipper Overy, Belhus started to make large headway. Kyle Hewson executed two fine run outs from backward square leg. There were wickets for Owen Williams (1-2), Robertson (1-7) and Overy who completed a fine all round match taking 2 for 0 to wrap up the visitors innings for 51 in 15.1 overs. Good support came from Millard with a catch and Plunkett with two snags of his own. Barnett added a run out to his wicket also. It was a good first outing for the Belhus youngsters but sterner tests lay ahead. Well played nonetheless.
