Match report Following the concession by Leigh-on-Sea in the league fixture, this friendly with Chelmsford 6th XI was arranged. Belhus won the toss and elected to bat.

There was a relatively slow start with the visitors opening bowlers being accurate. Alex Blake fell to the first ball of the second over, when Arin Gangopadhyay was forced to retire (toe injury) and Teddy Waters was caught at first slip The home side had reached 40 for 2 after 15 overs.

This brought together the 'experienced' Brian Edwards and young Billy Baker. Both of these, especially Brian, took a liking to the second string Chelmsford bowlers and put on a 120-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. After some fine hitting, Edwards departed bowled " I just couldn't lift my bat anymore" for 74. Billy Baker then took up the attack with Ethan Barnett as they added 45 in the last 4 overs.

In reply, an accurate opening spell especially from Kyle Hewson (8 overs 5 maidens 2 for 6) meant that Chelmsford already faced a huge task. Enter youngster Seth Coelho playing his second senior game after debut last weekend in the 6th XI who removed batsmen 4, 5 & 6 with a superb hat trick performance. Chelmsford couldn't recover from that, and a fine spell of spin bowling from Ethan Barnet (1-15 from 8) and a couple of wickets for Jack Pittman brought the Chelmsford innings to a close on 103 in the 36th over.
