Match report On a hot afternoon the Belhus young guns went down with spirit and effort in a hard fought defeat at Brentwood's idyllic Rougemont Ground. The hosts batted first and started strongly as Frankie Paisley (65) and Mark Townsend (41) added 114 for the first wicket. But Aidan Fourie (2-31) and Izzy Overy (2-28) applied the brakes as the Belhus youngsters worked hard in the field despite the hot weather. Brady Doyle made 36 for Brentwood and there were wickets for Alex Blake, Tyler Robertson and Henry Overy as Brentwood elected to declare on 230-7 after 42 overs.

Belhus lost Nagir early when they replied, but Blake (30) and skipper Robertson (31) gave Belhus momentum at a good rate before falling in quick succession to Paisley. Brian Edwards (35) and Billy Baker (25) kept Belhus in the hunt, but their dismissal left the young tail trying to hold out for a draw. Sadly Kyle Hewson was bowled just 8 balls from the close leaving Tyler Robertson stranded on 6 not out. Skipper Kevin Brailey took 3 for 9 and Paisley 2 - 27 to secure the win for Brentwood in an entertaining and sporting encounter.

Whilst the young Belhus side were disappointed to slip to their first defeat of the season, they deserve a lot of credit for a fine performance.
