In this fourth SNEL match of the season at South Ockendon Recreation Ground on the hottest day of the year, our 4th XI batted first and posted a competitive total of 180 for 5 declared from 40 overs. Michael Cansdale was the mainstay our innings with a fine half-century and was ably supported by opener Josh Reynolds who stroked 38. However, it must be said that the Belhus total was assisted by an astonishing 48 extras.

When we took the field after tea, paceman Rob Long was in devastating form as he ripped through the Orsett batsmen in taking 6 for 38 (5 of his victims were clean-bowled) from 13.1 overs. And it was the club's best bowling performance of the season.

Belhus won quite comfortably by 58 runs as skipper John Wilson's team (unbeaten this season) collected 25 points and lifted themselves into 3rd position of their SNEL Division. Well played Belhus.
