Belhus entertained Colchester in the last league game of the season knowing they had to win and results fall into place elsewhere to avoid relegation.

Batting first, Belhus got off to a good start. Wilson (65) and skipper Lewis (84) putting on 90 odd for the opening partnership. Martin Guilbert added a good 49 not out and Belhus declared early at 243 for 4 to allow themselves every oppurtunity to bowl out Colchester and garner the points required.

After tea, Colchester struggled to 20 for 2 and things looked promising but as in innumerable games this season, the catching let Belhus down. Fernandes (90) and Kennedy (82) were dropped 3 times although they batted well to win the game for Colchester.
