Ilford won the toss and elected to bat in this fifteenth SNEL match of the season at North Stifford. And when they proceeded to 138 for 3, Ilford were poised to post a sizeable total. But then Harsh Kumar (28) and the dangerous Mohammad Ahktar (57) were both dismissed with the score on 138 and Ilford's slide began. They lost 7 wickets for 43 runs as spinners Matt Doran and Joe Joyce took 3 wickets apiece.

In the run-chase after tea, Belhus started badly. Joyce Joyce, Matt Doran and Ryan Wells were soon back in the pavilion with just 18 runs on the board and wickets fell regularly to take us to 114 for 7. But then Billy Winter and Dan Dreher showed some resilience and combined together to forge a magnificent 8th wicket partnership of 64. And although we lost Winter for a fine half-century, the job had been done and we crept over the line to win a close encounter by 2 wickets.

Our 1st XI are sitting precariously in 8th place in the SNEL Premier Division. They now require a couple of similarly decent performances in the remaining 3 matches of the season if they are to secure a place at the Top Table in 2020 - the club's 60th Anniversary.
