A young Belhus Sunday 2nd Xl entertained neighbours Orsett in this 40 over Sunday friendly.

Batting first, Belhus reached 204 for 6, but at 71 for 3 at 23 overs, things were not looking too good, after R.Healy 13, Z.Wilson 25 and M.Moza 16 had all been dismissed, but skipper Wayne Read came to the crease to steady the ship with M.Cansdale. Read scored a nice 37, but fell with the score on 162, This left Cansdale to take control and he did just that with a fine 79 not out including 13 fours as he put Belhus in to a very good position at tea.

After tea, it was over to the young Belhus bowling attack to try and make inroads into the Orsett batting. Wickets proved hard to come by, but so did the runs as the boys produced some excellent bowling figures to contain the Orsett batsmen, with Henry Overy starring with the ball, bowling his 8 overs and picking up 2 wickets for only 30 runs as he and the rest of the attack contained Orsett to 178 for 3 off of there 40 overs, a Belhus won a very good and competitive game, played in a lovely spirit.
