On a bitterly cold and miserable afternoon with stoppages for rain and hailstones, Wickford batted first in this 2nd Round SNEL League Cup match but could only muster a modest total of 182 after Anthony McKenna had stroked a half-century. Dan Norris and Matt Doran took 3 wickets apiece for Belhus.

In our run-chase, Zak Wilson and Matt Doran (50) put on a 82-runs opening partnership before Zak was dismissed for a swift 55 (his fifth half-century in an impressive start to the season). We then took our innings to 146 for 3 and were looking quite comfortable until a little wobble ensued. Fortunately we managed to steady the ship and finally reached the required target in 33 overs to win by 4 wickets. Belhus now meet Hadleigh & Thundersley CC in the 3rd Round.
