In the semi-final of the Dukes Essex League Cup played at North Stifford Village Green in glorious sunshine, Shenfield batted first and posted a reasonably competitive total of 222 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs. Jamie Walton stroked a fine, undefeated half-century (51) * and Richard Ebson-Bennett (38*) struck some hefty blows at the end of the innings. Belhus bowlers Martin Guilbert, Connor Day and Matt Doran took 2 wickets apiece, with Guilbert and Day being particularly economical.

In our reply, openers Joe Joyce (61) and Matt Doran (34) laid a solid foundation, whereupon Ryan Wells produced a commanding undefeated 80 and, with support from Michael Fogg (23*), steered us home to a 6 wickets win in 45.2 overs.

The Essex League Cup Final will be played at Garon Park, Southend-on-Sea on Monday 27th August. Belhus will meet either Brentwood CC or Hornchurch CC - the other semi-finalists.
