Belhus Cricket Club Won By 71 Runs

Match report Belhus enjoyed a comfortable win in this U13 friendly on another blisteringly hot Sunday morning in this fabulous summer. Benfleet kindly offered to reverse the fixture and host as Belhus had to allow the First XI to play their League Cup Semi Final at North Stifford so we made the short jaunt down the A13 to Woodside Park.

With Teddy Waters otherwise engaged, Alex Blake skippered and won the toss and elected to bat. Charlie Ovey was the top scorer with a quick fire 22 before retiring. Lewis Blake made 20 before also retiring and Robert Healy retired on 16. Tyler Robertson made 15 and Charlotte Waters added 13 not out. Belhus compiled a good total making 146-7. The only blot on the day was Belhus managing to cough up five run outs - not our finest day for calling and running between the wickets although credit to to Benfleet for some fine fielding. Something for our boys and girls to think about. There were wickets for Benfleet for Matt and Ashton taking one apiece.

So Benfleet needed a brisk start but it was Belhus who started strongly with the ball as openers Seth Coelho and Kyle Hewson took a wicket each. Lewis Blake also took 1 wicket and there was a victim too for Charlie Ovey who had a fine day all round adding three smart catches to his earlier runs and one wicket. Charlotte Waters also bowled excellently taking 2 wickets for just 5 runs and Tyler Robertson wrapped up proceedings with 3 wickets for 2 runs - continuing his fine season with the ball. There was also a catch for Kaelan Casey. It was a fine performance for Belhus who bowled and fielded well. Benfleet's top scorer was skipper Ashton Lewis who batted well for 24. But Belhus won convincingly by 71 runs and set off for their summer tour in good spirits.
