Belhus opened their 2018 Summer Tour with a trip to Topcroft CC in Norfolk. Belhus were invited to bat on a gloriously hot sunny afternoon and made hay in the warmth. Robert Healy (52 with 9 fours and 1 six), Alex Blake (53 with 9 fours) and Teddy Waters (50 with 6 fours) all retired not out with fine half centuries. Henry Overy added 22 before retiring and Callum Constantine added 12 as Belhus totalled an imposing 237-5 in their allotted 30 overs. The young Topcroft side toiled hard in the hot conditions and there was reward in the way of a wicket each for James A, Owen L, Matthew S, Owen R and Oscar W.


After a pleasant tea and a cool drink Belhus took the field. Henry Overy (2 for 8) and Alex Blake (2 for 14) led the way with wickets taken and there was a also a wicket apiece for Charlotte Waters, Callum Constantine and a rare victim for regular wicket keeper Robert Healy. Overy added a run out to his fine all round display and Alex Blake also tacked on a catch to his runs and wickets. Other catches were snared by Tyler Robertson, Aidan Fourie and Charlotte Waters. The Topcroft batting effort was led by an excellent knock of 52 by James A, who made his maiden half century, deservedly retiring unbeaten. Lewis K made 16, Owen L 19, Ollie J 13 and Matthew S 12 as the hosts totalled 166-7 from their 30 overs.


So a good win by 71 runs for the tourists who worked hard on a very warm afternoon. Our thanks to our fine hosts for a great day to open our tour.
