Belhus Cricket Club Under 13 Spitfires v Hadleigh and Thundersley on Sun 27 May 2018 at 9.30am
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 6 Runs
Match report
On a humid, sunny morning Belhus entertained Hadleigh and Thundersley in what turned out to be an excellent close encounter. Belhus were put into bat and made a steady start through captain Teddy Waters (20 with 2 fours) and Henry Overy (10). Alex Blake added some acceleration retiring on 28 after hitting four boundaries. Robert Healy kept up the good work with 18 not out including 2 fours, as Belhus posted a competitive 121 from their 24 overs. Matt T was the most successful bowler for the visitors with 1 for 11 from three overs.
Belhus took to the field and Puneet Bal took an early wicket and Freddie Philips removed danger man Reuben for 15, both to good catches by Alex Blake and all seemed well for Belhus. But Max (25 retired) and Matt T. (18), put H&T in control at 93 for 2 and with 7 overs to go the game seemed to be heading the way of the visiting team. But Waters (3 overs for 9 runs) and Overy (2 wickets for 6 from 3 overs with 1 maiden) brought Belhus right back into the match. Enter Tyler Robertson who in one stunning over took 3 wickets (two clean bowled and one to a catch by Billy Kilduff). Robertson ended up with figures of 3 for 9, his personal best to date. Kyle Hewson kept his nerve in the final over to see Belhus to a narrow win by just 6 runs. A really exciting match that could have gone either way. Well played all.
